\linda and Its Oospring"

چکیده
The coordination language Linda has gone through a long development since it was conceived in the mid 1970s. While it was just a language at the beginning, today the spectrum of Linda-related work is broad and ranges from implementations in practically all relevant programing languages, some commercial implementations over fault tolerance mechanisms to an operating system based on it. This article | while not being exhaustive in any area | wants to present an overview over this spectrum and to encourage the reader to explore his special area of interest.

Amount of Parental Investment
It is a common assumption in evolutionary theory that a parent will distribute its resources evenly between a set of equivalent oospring. However this paper presents a theoretical model in which uneven parental investment between a set of equivalent oospring can be a preferred evolutionary strategy to equal investment in the same set of oospring. This eeect does not depend on different oospring...
متن کاملC2.7 Generation Gap Methods C2.7.1 Introduction C2.7.2 Historical Perspective
In this section, we will examine how generation gap methods are related to the concept of overlapping and non-overlapping populations in evolutionary algorithms (EAs). We will then review why generation gap methods were designed. We will compare and contrast the generational and steady state systems. Finally we will describe the elitist strategies used in evolutionary algorithms. The concept of...
متن کاملOrder Statistics Assosiated with Family Size in Branching Processes Allowing Immigration
We study the kth largest value, M (k) n , among the oospring of particles in the nth generation of a branching process with immigration. In particular, M (1) n gives the oospring of the most proliic particle in that generation. Limit theorems for M (k) n and EM (k) n are proved. The results are obtained by combining the extreme value theory methods and known results for the behavior of the popu...
متن کاملENZO-M - A Hybrid Approach for Optimizing Neural Networks by Evolution and Learning
ENZO-M combines two successful search techniques using two diierent timescales: learning (gradient descent) for netuning of each oospring and evolution for coarse optimization steps of the network topology. Therefore, our evolutionary algorithm is a metaheuristic based on the best available local heuristic. Through training each oospring by fast gradient methods the search space of our evolutio...
متن کاملThe Importance of Maintaining Behavioural Link Between Parents andO
In a recent study of evolutionary artiicial neural networks (EANNs) 1], it has been argued that a partial training process after an architectural mutation plays an important role in maintaining the behavioural link between parents and their oospring and thus is beneecial to the simulated evolution. This paper investigates the issue further through a number of experiments. The experimental resul...
